Today's The Day

July 14th, 2006 at 02:27 pm

I've decided today is the day I'm going to get serious about "SAVING".

Saving myself physically, emotionally and finacally. I know it sounds like alot to take on and I'll admit it's not the first try at any of these.

Physically I'm a wreck, have been for years.I've been on a diet for about 31 years and have been a complete failure at it. I coud write books on dietin, love all the healthy foods, know what I should be doing and DON"T DO IT. No ones fault but my own.

Emotionally and mentally I'm still that 10 years old girl who watched her Mother suffer terribly and then die. Then lose my Father 5 years later and not have one relative willing to be supportive. We didn't need them finacially but emotionally would of been nice, longer than the week of the funeral.

All that's the past it's time to get over it and get on with life. Say a pray for me on this one !!!!!!!

Now to the subject of finacially. How does someone who is on a fixed income save money ?????I am a financial dummy and have never been a saver.Any help on this one would be truly appreciated.

So that's all I need to work on for today (LOL)

OK now where did I put those Snickers!!!

Excess

July 6th, 2006 at 12:11 am

Yesterday I did what millions of Americans did, I went to a cookout.

I sat under the big oak tree eating my hamburger, numerous side dishes and a thought ran trough my head that wouldn't of been there last year on this same day. Excessive !!!!!

Everything was excessive,there were hamburgers,hotdogs,steak,sausage,chicken,shrimp,potato salad,potato casserole,
potato chips,pasta salad,salad,broccoli salad,fruit salad,baked beans,corn on the cob,cheese ball,bean dip,5 kinds of soda,3 kinds of beer,lemonade,water,wine coolers,3 kinds of pie,3 kinds of cake,grape nut pudding,jello squares,cheese cake,ice cream and smores.

All this food for roughly 20 people,I have to say it made me sick. I can't even imagine the cost.

Why the need for such excess ???

Saving on Coffee

July 3rd, 2006 at 12:51 pm

I decided this weekend to stop wasting coffee.

I throw way at least 1/2 a pot a day, so this morning I started drinking instant.
The instant will allow me to make one cup at a time.

I thought this is going to be awful, but was pleasantly surprised.

I still have regular coffee in the cupboard and will use it for those days when 1 cup just won't do.

Now I know I could make half a pot, but I'm not that great at getting a whole pot to not curl my toes.

So a teaspoon and water, can't get much simpler than that.

Perscriptions

July 1st, 2006 at 02:35 pm

I recently learned a new way that can help cut the cost on some perscription drugs.

My sister must have one of the worst drug plans, so to help her lower the cost on one of her drugs the doctor prescribe a higher dosage and has her cut the pill in half. So she only has to refill the perscription every other month. The one time cost for a pill splitter was cheap.

I'm sure this isn't news to everyone, but I thought it worth mentioning.

Hopefully someone may find it useful.
