Llyod's BBQ Sauce

June 5th, 2006 at 12:23 pm

It is with a heavy heart that I write this entry "Lloyd"s BBQ Sauce" is no more, they will no longer be making my favorite BBQ sauce.

They are still making their meat products but have discontinued the sauce.

I tried to find it to stock up and haven't found any yet,had I'd known I would have gone sparingly with my last jar.

Please a mnute of silence.

This is terrible, I love Lloyds!!! I will be calling Lloyd in the morning. I live in Colorado now and have the BBQ sauce shipped in from New Hampshire because it's never been available here. If this doesn't change...what are we supposed to do, buy the chicken and pork and scrape it off???

Have you found another barbeque sauce that tastes anything like Lloyds? I can't believe they discontinued it and am as heartbroken as you are....Thanks, Janet

The problem is that Hormel bought "Lloyd's" so that conglomerate can do with the product what it wants. Unfortunately for consumers, Hormel wants to sell what it grows, hogs (notice most of the Lloyd's products are pork?). I agree, the sauce was the best, but it's not available any more. The best thing to do is not purchase ANYTHING produced by Hormel. ...That, and start creating in the kitchen!!

After running all over the area looking for the sauce, we emailed Lloyd's and was told they were no longer making it for retail due to poor sales. Wish we could find way to special order it in gallons. They are still making it for their other products. We are now looking for a recipe that could might come close to the same taste.

Well, I have some good news and unanswered news so far.
I have found a sauce that taste just like lloyd's. I have sent a letter to Lloy'ds which of course was bought by Hormel to ask them why do they leave so much money on the table by not bottleing the sauce and selling it. I also told them I found a resturant who has the same sauce I think and am trying to see if they have any interest in bottling it and putting their label on it and selling it. It would sell. It is a National Chain and the manager seem to be interested so I will keep you posted. I am of course giving Hormel or lloyd's the chance to change and put it back on the market. I don't want to always have to purchase the meats they sell with it because I like it as dips and to use with other stuff. Any suggestions to help this happen let me know.

Using LLoyds BBQ Sauce with my Special Recipie, for several different meat products, was the best in the world. Baby Back Ribs was the tops in my output
If they wanted to try my product, then I would like a container of the old sauce, and they could come to my house to test it. If they then liked it....like very many people have....over many years, then I would sell them my recipe for a million dollars.
Presently I'm working on one of their competitors in hopes of making the final taste as delicious.

I wondered what had happened to my favorite BBQ sauce... I am bummed. I actually found another wonderful sauce, but it is made by a restaurant local to Boston and they do not ship it. If you get a chance to visit a Firefly BBQ restaurant near Boston, STOCK UP ON SAUCE!!!

Lloyds originated in Minneapolis so it has the Minneapolis (sweet not smoky) Taste.. So did Ken Davis' BBQ... You almost cannot tell the difference..

Hormel makes their money by processing meats... Their business model is to sell about 20-50 cents worth of product for 3-5 dollars.. They are very successful and a well run company... That is their business model...
It is call mucho value added and sauce sales doesn't contain the same added value...

Any way try Ken Davis BBQ sauce... You almost cannot tell the difference...

Where...or how... do you get Ken Davis BBQ sauce ?? A couple of years ago I found another sauce at a local "Stop and Shop", and it was pretty close to the taste of Lloyds. After my purchase of the first bottle....when I went back to get another.....they cancelled out that company, and I lost out for a second time.
Also....when Lloyds used their own sauce on their meats, it didn't taste that great. I have some other spices that I added to their sauce which really made the taste fantastic..............Oh Well
